Safe removal of your press ons without damage for your nails

Updated: Jun 9

Removing your press-on nails should be as gentle and stress-free as wearing them — no prying, no damage, and no pain! If you’re ready to take your set off (maybe to switch up the look?), here’s an easy, natural method using hot water, oil, and soap.

🧼 What You’ll Need:

  • A bowl of hot (not boiling) water

  • A few drops of cuticle oil, olive oil, or coconut oil

  • A squirt of gentle hand soap

  • A cuticle stick (optional)

  • A soft towel for drying

🪄 Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare the soak

Fill a bowl with hot water — it should be warm enough to help loosen the glue but not so hot that it burns. Add a few drops of oil and a pump of soap. Mix gently.

2. Soak your nails

Submerge your fingertips in the water and soak for 15–20 minutes. The combination of warmth, soap, and oil will begin to soften the adhesive.

🕯️ Tip: Light a candle, play a podcast — make it a moment of self-care!

3. Gently loosen the nails

After soaking, gently wiggle the press-ons side to side. If they feel loose, you can carefully lift the edges using a wooden cuticle stick.

⚠️ Never force the nails off — if they resist, soak for another 5–10 minutes and try again.

4. Rinse and nourish

Once the nails are off, wash your hands and apply cuticle oil or hand cream to rehydrate your skin and nails.

♻️ Want to Reuse Them?

If you plan to reuse your press-ons, make sure to:

  • Clean off any glue or sticky tabs on the back gently.

  • Store them back in your original packaging to keep them safe and clean.
